2.19 ALWAYS READ THE ERROR MESSAGE!

8h I am happy to say that I am DONE WITH SYSTEM CHECKS! Today was the last one and it was a nail-biter. I had to deal with the concept that I maybe wasn’t even going to finish the ‘exceeds expectations’ criteria, let alone do it well enough to actually get ‘exceeds expectations’ That was a tough thing to get over while I was furiously typing for 3.5 hours, but I eventually got there and accepted that I could only give as much as I had. I’ll live either way.

I DID end up getting through all of the ‘exceeds’ material and I even ended up writing tests for everything. In hindsight I could have used my time a little bit more wisely, and I could have done some code-related things better but I’m happy with my effort overall. Also – I got ‘exceeds expectations!’ Life is good.

Once concept I’m going to try to standardize is logging my error messages and their resolutions. In the early steps of learning something I think this will be super useful. Rails error messages are pretty easy to understand so I think it will be a great place to start. If I have luck with it then maybe I’ll expand to react and js.

On top of the system check I also had to present a lightning talk. We could pick any subject, and I chose how to brew sour beer. It was only 5 minutes but I did get nervous about it beforehand. Ultimately it went as good as it could have, and I shouldn’t have been nervous. Hopefully that takes a bit of the edge off for next time.

Tonight it really felt good to relax after dinner and let my mind wander. This has been a long 6 weeks, but I’m proud of all that I have learned and looking forward to learning more.

Tell me what you think.
