6.25h today. I put in a lot of work on documenting some old yet interesting projects. They will end up on here eventually. Possibly as a way to show how far I have come! I did some work on my time-timer project, adding some new features and struggling aligning divs. Damn do I not have any flow in css! I can spend three hours in ruby or python and feel like I’m crushing it, but I can’t get two stacked divs to align if my life depended on it. I’m so used to having graphical tools for this kind of thing in my day job (ie illustrator / photoshop / vector tools) so that having to type in numbers and possible alignment options makes me feel like I’m living in the stone age.
I did ex44 in learn ruby the hard way. It was mostly about inheritance vs composition vs mixins but at the end it has an assignment to read the ruby style guide. That is going to be a solid read full of things I haven’t learned yet! I guess that is a good thing to go through as it will introduce me to a lot of terminology and concepts.
I also read “It doesn’t have to be crazy at work” By DHH. It wasn’t revolutionary, but it did make me rethink a lot of things. I’m hopeful that I will be able to find a coding job that believes in some of his/their concepts. That would certainly make me a very loyal employee.
